Is prostate cancer deadly? Let’s find out in this article is prostate cancer dangerous and is it stomach-sinted?
What’s a prostate?
The prostate is a small walnut-shaped gland in a man’s pelvis, located next to the bladder and can be examined by a digital examination of the rectum. Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the prostate gland, and is the second leading cause of death for men, causing death for every 1 in 9 men. Prostate tumors can also be benign or malignant (cancer) for example:
Benign prostate enlargement:
- It is rarely a danger” to life.
- Don’t invade the tissues around them.
- Do not spread to other parts of the body.
- It can be removed and can grow back very slowly.
Malignant prostate enlargement or cancer:
- Sometimes it can be a threat to life.
- It can spread to nearby organs and tissues (such as the bladder or rectum).
- It can spread (moves) to other parts of the body (e.g. lymph nodes or bones).
- As often they can be removed but sometimes grow again.
- Prostate cancer cells can spread by separation from a prostate tumor.
- They can also travel through blood vessels or lymph nodes to reach other parts of the body.
- After spreading, cancer cells may stick to other tissues and grow to form new tumors, causing damage to the place of their landing.
- When prostate cancer spreads from its original location to another body.
- The new tumor has the same type of abnormal cell and the same primary tumor name.
- For example, if prostate cancer spreads to the bones, the cancer cells in the bones are actually prostate cancer cells.
- This disease is metastatic prostate cancer, not bone cancer for this reason, it is treated as prostate cancer in the bone.
- To understand prostate cancer, it is useful to know how the prostate works normally.
Prostate:
- The prostate and vesicles are part of the male reproductive system, as the size of the prostate is the size of a walnut and weighs about one ounce.
- Seminal vesicles are two much smaller mating glands, and these glands may be connected to each side of the prostate.
- The prostate is located below the bladder and in front of the rectum, the prostate surrounds the urethra.
- A urethra is a tube that transports urine from the bladder to the outside through the penis, which is why urination is difficult in men with enlarged prostate.
- The flow of urine from the bladder can also disrupt the main function of the prostate and seminal vesicles, which is the creation of fluid that feeds the semen during ejaculation.
- Sperm is formed in the testes and then transmitted to the urethra, at the same time, the fluid travels from the prostate and the seminal vesicles also” to the urethra.
- This combination of semen and fluid from the prostate and seminal vesicles forms ejaculation that passes through the urethra and exits the penis.
- When prostate occurs, it begins in the prostate gland and spreads to the seminal vesicles.
Symptoms:
- Mild pain in the lower pelvic area.
- Frequent urination.
- Difficulty urinating, pain, heartburn or poor urine flow.
- Blood in the urine.
- Painful ejaculation.
- Pain in the lower back, hips or upper thighs.
- Anorexia.
- Weight loss.
- Bone pain.
What are the causes of prostate?
No one knows how prostate begins as studies show that 1 in 3 men over the age of 50 has some cancer cells in the prostate and eight out of ten are harmful other tumors.
What are the risk factors for prostate?
Age:
- “The risk of prostate increases with age as it is rare for men under the age of 40 to develop prostate.”
- Prostate cells are also likely to be damaged over the age of 55.
- Damaged or abnormal prostate cells can start to grow randomly and out of control and form tumors.
- Age is a known risk factor for prostate cancer, but smoking and being overweight are “closely related” to death from prostate.
Ethnicity:
- Men of African descent have a higher incidence of prostate.
- Men of African descent can also have aggressive tumors that grow rapidly and spread and cause death.
- The cause of the spread of prostate in men of African origin is unclear, but it may be due to environmental factors, diet or other factors.
